30 Sep The Future is Near for Teams in Solar Home Competition
The house designed by Orange County’s first team in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon is taking shape.
Called Casa del Sol, the solar-powered home is modeled after California’s drought-resistant state flower, the poppy. The team will compete against 13 other teams from around the world next month at the Orange County Great Park.
This month, workers at Team Orange’s Irvine Valley College construction site entered the early stages of disassembling the house in anticipation of its move to the Great Park, even as painting and installation continued.
